Dr. Bartolo is a Maltese academic leader, educator, healthcare professional, psychological coach and complementary medicine practitioner with more than 25 years of multidisciplinary professional experience. His career brings together academic leadership, occupational therapy, health and social care education, naturopathic medicine, clinical hypnotherapy, psychological coaching, student mentoring and therapeutic practice.
Originally trained as an Occupational Therapist, Dr. Bartolo holds a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from the School of Nursing in Malta. Although he is currently a non-practising Occupational Therapist, his occupational therapy background continues to influence his professional philosophy. It has provided him with a strong understanding of human development, physical and psychological wellbeing, functional independence, rehabilitation, person-centred care and the relationship between health, behaviour and everyday performance.
During the earlier stages of his career, Dr. Bartolo worked as a Complementary and Occupational Therapist across a variety of clinical settings. This experience enabled him to support individuals experiencing physical, emotional, developmental and functional challenges. Through his private practice, he provides individualised support using naturopathic, psychological, coaching and hypnotherapeutic approaches. His work focuses on understanding each client as a whole person rather than concentrating exclusively on isolated symptoms.
His therapeutic philosophy integrates evidence-informed practice with holistic and person-centred care. Depending on the individual’s needs, his interventions may draw upon clinical hypnotherapy, psychological coaching, cognitive and behavioural strategies, mindfulness, stress management, lifestyle guidance and complementary therapeutic principles. His objective is to help individuals strengthen self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, motivation and personal responsibility for their wellbeing.
Dr. Bartolo has particular professional interests in anxiety management, stress reduction, overthinking, confidence development, emotional wellbeing, behavioural change, academic performance and personal development.
